But what then? The gems were mine to keep! Or were they not? I had never seen this kind of secret worth giggling about in public or private. What? Share? With whom? What did I care about my fellow officers who I fought with shared life and death with when what was mine was mine and theirs was theirs?! Oh, yeah mine was a burden of choice, alright.
