They fight with each other more than they fight with the enemy during the journey, but the ordeal would bring them closer than anyone else. As Ronan realizes his true feelings for Lass, he confesses, only to be rejected. Ronan and Lass may not share many interests, but they do share one great fear. The fear of love. Amy steps in, and confronts Lass about his mistake, causing him to realize exactly what Ronan means to him. Conquoring his past, and feelings of regret, he chases after Ronan.
