The New York Times:The Complete Front Pages 1851-2009 Updated Edition
Review: Despite the fact that the New York Times is my favorite paper of liberal bias, I’m also a history buff, and I like old newspapers and magazines. So last Christmas I ran out and bought the 2008 version. Although pleasant, missing several months (including my daughters birth months of Septmeber 1994, to my disappointment), and tries to read a lot of the big issues was very difficult.
I am happy to report that the 2009 version not only includes the missing months, but to my great surprise of many of the most difficult to read documents have somehow been “cleaned up”. I do not know how they did, but I compared with only 24 September 1851 paper in two versions and it’s like night and day, much easier to read in the new version. Also, as the old version, you can have easy access to the NYT archive to continue reading a front page article or read the articles in other pages of this newspaper. A very nice feature.
If you were disappointed with the 2008 version, I would recommend getting this revised version.
DVDs are amzing, but despite the improvement of the first pages seem to miss: The Western editions of February and March 1963 (during a strike), despite the fact that the articles are available for these dates according to the archives of the New York Times. However, this wonderful product.
I do not care what your political bend is, but this presentation by the New York Times is impressive. Looking at the first pages of the Civil War, World War I and II, landing on the moon, 9 / 11 and so on is amazing. What is a coffee table over. This book is beautifully appointed and a pleasure to scan at any time. Links to online stories are really nice. I do not regret buying this book, it is a keepsake for all time.
We bought this book for our dad, who is 70-something. He now has trouble going to bed because he can not put this book down! This is probably the best gift we’ve ever managed to “someone who has everything and needs nothing!
This book is a treasure trove of historical information, both changing the world and the fascinating, forgotten, or never had often meticulous. The immediacy of the events as they were reported adds a crucial dimension not experienced in reading history.Impossible right to put down!
